Women's Wrestling Posts Strong Showing at Patriot Duals

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — The Life University women's wrestling program completed a full weekend at the Patriot Duals, taking a strong contingent and splitting the team between Black and Green squads. 

Life U Black

The first contingent went undefeated on Day 1, finishing 6–0 to sit on top of Pool B. The Running Eagles opened with a 37–11 win over Montreat, earning falls from Alyssa Quezaire (103), Salyna Shotwell (117), Sidney Sullens (124), Christina Jaen (138), Narvena Sallom (180), and Madeline Welch (207).

The team followed with a 43–5 victory against Liberty, recording several bonus-point wins including fast falls from Shotwell and Amelia Fawcett, an injury default from Sallom, and tech falls from Olivia Mottley (131) and Zaynah McBryde (138).

In the third dual, Life U defeated Lourdes 35–15, highlighted by first-period pins from Jordyn Chrisco, Jaen, and Fawcett. The Black squad then added a 28–16 win over Cumberlands Blue, with Quezaire, Martinez, Shotwell, Sullens, McBryde, Fawcett, and Welch all contributing victories.

A 35–11 win over Lincoln Memorial followed, featuring tech falls from Quezaire, Mottley, and McBryde, plus a 12–11 decision from Jaen at 145. Life U Black closed the day with a 35–0 shutout of Lindsey Wilson Black, winning all contested bouts and collecting falls from Martinez, Shotwell, McBryde, and Welch.

On Day 2, the squad opened Red Pool action with a 23–23 tie against Indiana Tech, earning the dual on criteria by holding a 4–2 advantage in falls. Shotwell, Sallom, and Welch each secured pins, while McBryde added a 10–0 tech fall at 138.

Life U Green

Life U Green competed in Pool A and finished Day 1 with two dual victories. After an opening loss to the University of Providence, the Running Eagles responded with a 29–17 win over Lindsey Wilson Blue, earning seven straight wins to start the dual. The streak included tech falls from Anderson (103), Robbins (117), Russell (124), and Mack (131), along with pins from Velasquez (138) and Vann (145).

The Green squad then faced Indiana Tech, dropping a 28–15 contest despite wins from Turnquest (138 TF), Vann (145 fall), and Witherspoon (207 decision). Life U bounced back with a 33–16 victory over Rochester Christian, earning pins from Anderson, Gonzalez, and Witherspoon, plus tech falls from Russell and Vann.

In the final dual of Day 1, the squad came up just short against Campbellsville, falling 26–22. Gonzalez and Mack each earned tech falls, Russell added a second-period pin, and Vann claimed a decision at 145.

Day 2 placed the Green squad in the Blue Pool, where they opened with a 28–20 loss to Cumberlands Blue. Gonzalez (110), Mack (131), and Vann (145) each recorded falls, while Russell added another win via forfeit at 124.
