Track & Field Travels to Mount Berry for Berry Field Day Invite

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Life University Track and Field team traveled to Mount Berry, Ga. for the Berry Field Day Invite this past weekend. The traveling athletes had a solid weekend with multiple B-Standard and top-ten performances. Additionally, at the Gamecock Invitational in South Carolina, Briana Campbell produced a pair of automatic qualifying times while Emeline Delaville earned a B-Standard time.

At the Gamecock Invitational: 

In South Carolina, Briana Campbell earned an automatic qualifying time of 23.54 in the women's 200m while also posting an A-Standard time of 13.17 in the women's 100m hurdles. Both the 100m hurdle time and the 200m time are the fastest time in the NAIA this season. With these times, Campbell now holds the fastest time in the NAIA this season in three different events (100m, 100m hurdles, 200m). Also at the meet, Emeline Delaville won the women's 800m with a B-Standard time of 2.12.95.

At the Berry Field Day Invite: 

Darius Barge continued to impress, tossing a pair of B-Standards at the meet. First in the men's shot put, Barge recorded a best distance of 16.34m and won the event. Next, he tossed 49.16m in the men's discus, placing second at the meet.

Teammates Samuel Piquant and Tobiloba Oniyide finished in the top ten, with Piquant in fourth (10.58) and Oniyide in sixth (10.63). Piquant also went on to place fifth in the men's 200m with a time of 21.59.

Braden Deal won the men's high jump at the meet, recording a best height of 1.91m.

In the women's 400m, Najah Gibson placed third with a time of 59.25. Teammate Laisha Hernandez also earned a top-five finish, with hers coming in the women's 400m hurdles where she placed fourth (1:06.31).

Alejandro Ramos and Abedelemejid Kerebo finished seventh and eighth in the men's 400m with times of 50.12 and 50.79. Ramos also placed sixth in the men's 400m hurdles, running a time of 57.00.

Katelyn Mendoza recorded a pair of top-ten finishes at the meet. Her first came as she placed fifth in the women's shot put (12.22m) while her second came in the women's discus (36.67m).

Geovanni Hawes earned a pair of top-ten finishes, placing third in the men's shot put (14.99m) and sixth in the men's discus (42.71m). Teammate Winston Sanders earned a top-three finish in the men's discus with a best toss of 46.65m. Aidan Campbell joined in on the action, earning his own fourth place finish in the men's hammer (47.22m) while Sanders placed seventh (44.37m).

Up next, the team is scheduled to compete at the Georgia Tech Invitational starting on Friday, April 18th.
