Women's Wrestling Crowned NAIA National Duals Champions for Third Consecutive Year

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The Life University women's wrestling team put an exclamation point on a historic weekend at the 2026 NAIA National Duals on Saturday, winning both of its Day Two duals to capture the program's third consecutive NWCA National Duals Championship.


Semifinal: Life University vs. William Penn (24–18)

Life University punched its ticket to the championship dual with a hard-fought semifinal victory over #4 William Penn, using depth and timely bonus points to secure the 24–18 win.

Alyssa Quezaire opened the dual in dominant fashion at 103 lbs, earning an 11–0 technical fall to give the Running Eagles early momentum. #1 Ariana Martinez followed at 110 lbs with a composed 7–3 decision over #7 Avy Perez. Salyna Shotwell then extended the lead at 117 lbs with an 8–1 decision.

William Penn responded with wins at 124 and 138 lbs, tightening the team score, but Life U answered in the middle weights. At 131 lbs, Olivia Mottley then pulled off an impressive defeat, delivering a 12–0 technical fall at 131 lbs over #4 Kendall Bostelman. Jamilah McBryde then added a 14–4 technical fall at 145 lbs to swing the dual back in Life's favor.

Latifah McBryde continued her standout tournament at 160 lbs with an 11–0 technical fall, and Reka Busa sealed the dual with a decisive 10–2 win at 180 lbs. Despite a forfeit at 207 lbs, the Running Eagles held on to clinch the semifinal victory and advance to the title bout.

Championship: Life University vs. University of Providence (32–11)

Facing #2 University of Providence in the championship dual, Life University responded to early adversity with a commanding run through the middle and upper weights to secure a 32–11 victory and the National Title.

Providence claimed the first two bouts, but the Running Eagles quickly took control. Shotwell ignited the turnaround at 117 lbs with a fall over #8 Joely Slyterat. Anna Krejsa then followed at 124 lbs with an outstanding performance, pinning #3 Alyssa Randles in 4:18. Sarah Savidge then added a critical decision at 131 lbs over the top-ranked 131-pounder Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp. Zaynah McBryde then followed with a 10–4 win at 138 lbs over #5 Esther Han to build separation.

The momentum continued as Jamilah McBryde earned an 11–5 decision at 145 lbs over #7 Elise Twait, and Latifah McBryde delivered a decisive 10–0 technical fall at 160 lbs over #9 Hailey Sutton. Busa then added more bonus points with an 11–0 technical fall at 180 lbs over 160-pounder #9 Aspen Dodge. Madeline Welch then closed the championship in emphatic fashion with a first-period pin at 207 lbs.

With the win, Life University completed a perfect run through the 2026 NAIA National Duals and stood atop the podium once again, cementing its place as the NAIA's premier women's wrestling program with a third straight National Duals Championship.
