CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The Life University women's wrestling team delivered a dominant opening day at the 2026 NAIA National Duals on Friday, powering through its first two duals with overwhelming bonus-point production to secure a guaranteed top-four finish and a berth in the semifinals.
Round 1: Life University vs. Missouri Valley College (43–2)
Life University opened the tournament in emphatic fashion, winning all 10 bouts and surrendering just two team points in a lopsided victory over Missouri Valley. Alyssa Quezaire set the tone at 103 lbs with a 10–0 technical fall, igniting a stretch of bonus-point wins that quickly put the dual out of reach.
At 110 lbs, Ariana Martinez needed just 1:21 to secure a fall, followed by back-to-back pins from Salyna Shotwell (117) and Anna Krejsa (124), with Krejsa closing her match in just 43 seconds. Olivia Mottley added to the surge at 131 lbs with a 10–0 technical fall, while Zaynah McBryde matched the effort with another technical fall at 138 lbs.
The Running Eagles continued their dominance through the upper weights, as Jamilah McBryde posted an 11–1 technical fall at 145 lbs and Latifah McBryde earned a first-period pin at 160 lbs. Reka Busa followed with a 10–0 technical fall at 180 lbs, and Narvena Sallom closed the dual with a composed 6–2 decision at 207 lbs to seal the 43–2 victory.
Quarterfinal: Life University vs. Texas Wesleyan (39–9)
Life U carried its momentum into the quarterfinals, again racing out to an early lead behind a string of falls against Texas Wesleyan. Quezaire opened the dual with a pin at 103 lbs, and Diana Gonzalez followed with a second-period fall at 110 lbs to extend the advantage.
Shotwell remained perfect on the day at 117 lbs, recording a fall in just 50 seconds, while Kennedy Russell added another pin at 124 lbs. Sarah Savidge continued the bonus-point trend with a 10–0 technical fall at 131 lbs, and Christina Jaen made it six straight Life U wins with a fall at 138 lbs.
Texas Wesleyan picked up a victory at 145 lbs, but the Running Eagles answered immediately. Zayla Vann delivered a high-scoring 19–9 technical fall at 160 lbs, and Busa earned her second pin of the day at 180 lbs. The final bout at 207 lbs went to Texas Wesleyan, but the outcome was already decided as Life University closed out the 39–9 win.
