Box Score 2 BABSON PARK, Fla. -- The Life University flag football team dropped a pair of road contests this past weekend. On Friday, the Running Eagles came up short against Warner before suffering a similar fate against Webber on Saturday.
In a tight contest, Life U dropped the Friday game to Warner in Lake Wales, Fla. by a score of 20-7. The team then traveled to Babson Park, Fla. to take on Webber the following day.
The Running Eagles squad found itself locked in a battle during Saturday's game, with neither team scoring in the first quarter. The Royals opened the scoring in the second quarter but failed the conversion, giving them a 6-0 lead. Cheyenne Brooks connected with Altierra Gooch for a 66 yard bomb on the next possession, answering the Warner touchdown and taking the lead 7-6. This marked the first lead of the year for the Running Eagles.
The lead was short lived for Life U as the Royals scored a late touchdown with 01:44 left in the half to take a 13-6 score line into half time.
Both defenses returned to form out of the break, once again allowing zero points to be scored in the quarter. Warner pushed the lead to 19-7 on the first play of the fourth quarter, making it a two possession game. Things went from bad to worse as the Royals scored another touchdown with 04:37 left to play to effectively end the game. Brooks tossed a 21 yard touchdown pass to Dechea Branham late, but Warner continued to stretch the lead. The contest concluded 32-14 in favor of the home squad.
Up next, the Running Eagles travel to Montgomery, Ala. to face Huntingdon on Saturday, March 1.
