VOTE NEEDED: Four Running Eagles Headline Nominations for Annual Rudy Scholz and MA Sorensen Awards

03.21.25

MARIETTA, Ga. --  With help from a panel of coaches and media, the nominations for the 2024-25 MA Sorensen and Rudy Scholz Awards have been finalized with four Running Eagles earning prestigious nominations. Alle English and Angelina Mason represent the women's rugby program while Adam Chadwick and Bradley Crane were both nominated for the Rudy Scholz Award.

The Rudy Scholz Award is awarded to the best men's collegiate rugby player in the nation every year. Sponsored and presented by the Washington Athletic Club of Seattle, the Scholz Award was first presented in 2016, with Saint Mary's player Dylan Audsley receiving the trophy. Rudy Scholz was a double gold medal-winner in rugby for the USA in 1920 and 1924. He played rugby at Santa Clara and served and was decorated in both World War I and World Ward II. He played rugby into his 80s and was a a prominent attorney throughout his professional life. He died in 1981.

Also sponsored and presented by the Washington Athletic Club of Seattle, the MA Sorensen Award was first presented in 2016, with Penn State's Hope Rogers receiving the trophy.

The award is named after World Cup-winning Eagle MA Sorensen, who went on the blaze trails as a player, coach, and doctor. The award is presented every year (since 2016) by the Washington Athletic Club of Seattle, Wash.

This list of nominees will, with the help of the collegiate rugby community, be whittled down to a finalist group of four or five, and the winner will then be voted on by the awards panel. The winners will then officially receive a trophy at a gala event in Seattle in June.

The rugby public can now vote and narrow down the field to a set of finalists, and then a final round of voting will determine the winner. The 2025 recipients will be honored alongside one another at the Washington AC in Seattle.
