Track & Field Competes at Emory Qualifier 2025

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Life University Track and Field team remained close to home this past Wednesday, traveling to Emory as the competing athletes looked to qualify for Nationals. The group posted multiple A-Standard marks while adding additional B-Standard marks.

In one of the closest races of the meet, the women's 4x400m relay team of Laisha Hernandez, Emeline Delaville, Cameron Kelperis and Najah Gibson narrowly placed second. The group posted an A-Standard time of 3.46.16, which is the second fastest time in the NAIA this season behind Southeastern who also competed at the meet.  

Tobiloba Oniyide posted an A-Standard time in the men's 100m dash finals, placing third with a 10.35. Teammate Jordan Dave recorded a B-Standard time in the same event, running a 10.41 in the prelims before placing fifth in the finals.

In the men's 4x100m relay, Life U recorded a pair of automatic qualifying times. First, the team of Jordan Dave, Samuel Piquant, Jamario Russell and Tilman Jedlitschka posted a 40.48 in a separate heat. Additionally, the team of Andre Edwards, Daniel Williams, Tobiloba Oniyide and Marvin Jean-Francois ran a combined 40.55.

Cameron Kelperis recorded a pair of standards at the meet, first recording an automatic qualifying mark in the women's pole vault with a best height of 3.84m. She then went on to record a B-Standard time in the women's 100m dash finals, posting a 11.87 while coming in fourth. 

In men's 400m hurdles, Sean Hewitt posted a B-Standard time of 53.69 while winning the event at the meet. Drew Pochylko also recorded a top-five finish, coming in fourth (55.06).

Printassia Johnson recorded a B-Standard time in the women's 400m, winning the event with a time of 55.38. Dagbjort Magnusdottir placed sixth in the event with a time of 1:00.87.

Wiaan Martin won the men's 400m with a time of 48.19 while Alejandro Ramos placed ninth (50.24). In the men's 800m, Abedelemejid Kerebo placed seventh with a time of 1:52.42.

In the women's 400m hurdles, Laisha Hernandez placed fifth, running a 1:03.82.

Braden Deal earned a third place finish in the men's high jump with a best height of 1.90m. Zvindaishe Bere placed sixth with a best height of 1.85m while also finishing third in the men's triple jump (13.63m).

Oumy Gaye placed fourth in the women's long jump with a best distance of 5.56m. Teammate Zaria Bonafede placed sixth in the event (5.43m). 

Khalil Carr placed seventh in the men's long jump with a best jump of 6.41m.
